The fire took place in Easton around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 24 at the home located at 15 hayes St.
Easton firefighters responded to the home after receiving a 911 call from the resident stating the house was on fire and that people were still in the home, said Capt. Jonathan Arnold, of the Easton Police Department.
When police arrived on the scene, one member of the family was inside the house attempting to extinguish the flames, that were located on the second floor of the home, Arnold said.
The victim was able to escape, but sustained serious burn and smoke injuries and was transported to the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center by Easton EMS for treatment, Arnold added.
All other members of the household exited the home without injury.
This fire is under investigation by the Easton Fire Marshals Office and no cause has been determined.
